Pedigree Dog Food Limited Recall

Mars Petcare U-S has announced a voluntary recall of bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food due to possible contamination with a “foreign material.” In this case that material includes small metal fragments which might have entered the packages during the production process. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall involves a limited number of bags – about two dozen – produced at a single manufacturing facility and shipped to one retail customer.

The bags were sold between August 18 and August 25 in 12 Dollar General Stores in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee and Louisiana. The affected bags have a UPC code that reads 432C1KKM03 and a “best before” date of 8/5/15. The FDA stresses that NO other Pedigree products are affected.

Mars issued this statement saying “At Mars Petcare U-S, we take our responsibility to pets and their owners seriously. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this recall.” Pet owners with questions can contact the company at (800) 305-5206 or visit the company’s website for more info: www.pedigree.com/update
